Royal Worcester Evesham Vale & Evesham Gold

Royal Worcester's Evesham Pattern was introduced in 1961 as the beginning of a new trend for more informal dining that was to bring the humble casserole dish from the kitchen to the dining table. Evesham, named after the local fruit-growing region near Worcester, remains the company's best selling brand.

The original painted fruit sprays were painted by Professor Baker, Ronald van Ruyckevelt, Peter Ewence and other members of the team in the Royal Worcester Design Department.

Apples, pears, cherries, damsons and blackberries were just a few of the colourful fruit sprays developed. These original designs were then faithfully reproduced using an eighteenth century technique in which lithographic stones were painstakingly engraved to reveal an impression of the original artwork for transfer to the porcelain. The artwork was reproduced in 26 colours using lithographic prints and items were finished with hand applied gilding. Royal Worcester Evesham Gold was an immediate success.

Evesham Gold
Evesham Gold is a classic porcelain pattern, depicting the autumnal fruits of the Vale of Evesham with the elegance of gold banding. It is now a fully coordinated range of tableware, cookware and serving items made from high quality porcelain.
With the emphasis on practicality and versatility, each item can be transferred directly from the freezer, fridge or oven to the table and finally to the dishwasher. Evesham Gold is the perfect choice for the enthusiast in the kitchen or simply to create a good impression with maximum ease, whatever the occasion. It is also complemented by a delightful range of home accessories.
Evesham Vale
In 1987 Evesham vale was Introduced by Royal Worcester. Offering all the benefits of the Evesham Gold range, but with the added bonus of being microwave safe, Evesham Vale, with its fresh green edging, is a timeless design being formal enough for fine dining, yet practical and versatile for everyday use.
In 1968 Evesham gold was produced on the Severn shape, designed by Neal French. In 1992 the traditional Evesham tea and coffee items were changed from 'Severn Shape' to the more up to date 'Maven Shape' designed by Franklyn Francis. In 1992 Peter Ewence, one of the original designers, stated after 30 years Evesham could be seen in one in five households in the UK.

In 1994 The Classic Giftware Collection was introduced to the Evesham Gold range and in 1996 the pattern selection was altered increasing the number of fruit sprays on each item to produce a greater density of decoration.

Royal Worcester continue to update and modernise both the Evesham Gold and Evesham Vale Ranges to reflect the changing demands of Royal Worcester customers.
